Due to COVID-19 all appointments must be scheduled. There are no walk-in appointments at this time. Patients may call the office after 9:00am to schedule an emergency same day sick appointment.

Lab hours: Monday through Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm. Please call the office to schedule your lab visit. When you are scheduled we will have your lab slip prepared for your arrival.

Policies

Appointments:
Patients should contact the office or use MyPennMedicine to schedule appointments for all acute care needs, preventative care and emergencies. Day time appointments are available Monday through Friday; Wednesday and Thursday evenings for virtual appointments only. Saturday appointments are on the second and fourth Saturday of the month . Emergency same-day appointments are available by appointment. No walk-in appointments are available at this time due to COVID-19 restrictions. Please call at 9am for availability of scheduling a same day appointment.

After Hours/Weekend Care:
For emergencies after the office is closed, please call the main number, (908) 281-1199, for the Answering Service operator. They will page the doctor on call, who is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by telephone. If there is a disruption of phone service, please contact the office via the operator at Somerset Medical Center (908) 685-2200.

Refills:
Please call the office and press the Refill option to leave a message with your request. Please state and spell your name, medications, dosage, and pharmacy name and phone number. Please try to call prior to running out of your medications, and to allow up to 48 hours for your request to be processed. All prescriptions are sent electronically to your pharmacy, except for select mail-order pharmacies and regulated medications. These must be hand-written by our office and faxed.

Referrals:
Please call the office and speak with the receptionist to leave a message with your request. In order for a referral request to be completed the following information is needed: Patient name, the reason for the request, the specialist's full name, NPI number and address, and if known, any special requests. Please allow 5 - 7 days for processing non-emergencies. Per insurance company regulations, follow-up referrals cannot be issued without a plan of treatment from the specialist on file. The specialist should provide a letter indicating your diagnosis, follow-up plans, and need for follow-up visits. To improve communications with the specialists, please ask them at the time of your visit to send a letter to our office.

Test Results:
Patients will be notified of all test results, whether normal or abnormal by our staff. According to HIPAA confidentiality rules, results can only be given to the patient (not spouse, significant other, etc.), unless written consent is obtained for the chart. No OB/gynecology/STD - related lab results can be given to the parent of a patient who is a minor without written HIPAA consent of the patient/minor. This is NJ law.

Check with a member of our staff for all other insurances accepted. We also accept Cash, Personal Checks and most types of credit or debit cards.



Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get my records transferred?
Complete and mail / drop-off at your last doctor's office the "Transfer of Record" form found on this website or requested from this office (or hand-write your request with our address and telephone number).

Can my entire family be seen by the same doctor?
Yes, Family Medicine is the care of the entire family, including children, adolescents, adults and elderly patients.

Am I always notified about my test results even if normal?
Yes. A member of our staff will call you within 1 - 2 weeks with ALL results. If you do not hear from our office after 2 weeks please notify our office.

What if I have mail-order prescriptions?
Depending on the company your insurance uses, the prescription may have to be faxed by our office or may be sent electronically directly to the company. Please request a refill 2 weeks prior to running out of the medications to allow time for processing.

Do I have to use a computer to renew my medications or request a referral?
No. You may request both by calling the office's main number (908) 281-1199 and pushing the option for Refill or Referral requests, and leaving a detailed message for doctor approval. If it's an emergency referral or you are out of your medications, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you. The usual turnaround time for requested Refills is 48 hours and Referrals is 5 - 7 business days.

May I request that copies of my test results, lab tests, lab requests, referrals, diets, and other patient information be mailed to my home?
Yes! Please give us a self-addressed, stamped envelope so that we can send a copy of what you request. We also can keep self-addressed, stamped envelopes on file for you if you have items that require frequent mailing. You can also pick up your requests at the office but please call the office prior to coming.
